NICK HELME - SCULPTOR
Nick Helme was born and raised on a Hereforshire farm where he gained an early love of nature. He went on to do a Special Honours Degree in Botany and Zoology at Sheffield University and subsequently travelled the world for the next two years.
He dabbled in ceramics for a number of years and then attended Hereford Art College which helped to sharpen and hone his abilities.
He has stated, 'I was introduced to clay at an early age, and from this first love progressed into sculpture and then carving in wood and welding in Steel. I then discovered the beauty of bronze using the 'lost wax process' by which I am able to return to my first love, clay which I use to make the initial maquette !'
Nick has exhibited in various art shows and galleries around Herefordshire and also at the NEC in Birmingham, the Corn Exchange in Edinburgh, Harrogate Fair and The Cork Street Gallery in London.
His works now appear in private collections up and down the country.
